AIS modules

The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requires AIS (Automatic Identification System, an international maritime standard for communications) to be fitted aboard ships with gross tonnage (GT) of 300 or more tons. On leisure boats the installation of a ship-borne AIS modules is on a voluntary basis. Blue Thread provides two types of AIS modules:

AIS Class-A transceiver

Best in class field performance, low power consumption and reliability. Fully integrated – one box – Class A solution, light weight and easy to install, configure and operate. Fully certified and type approved for global use in accordance with published international AIS standards and EU inland waterways.

AIS Class-B module

Internationally certified Class B AIS Transceiver. NMEA0183, NMEA2000 and USB interfaces supported. Ruggedised and certified IP67 waterproof suitable for both internal and external installations. Integrated GPS antenna and connector for optional external antenna simplifying installation.
