Blue Thread is providing its enhanced AIS transceivers to the European project ICWM (Integrated Coastal Water Monitoring for MED). ICWM integrates Earth Observation (EO) based services, Satellite Communication and Navigation solutions together with Terrestrial assets for the set-up of an improved sea coastal surveillance and water quality monitoring service in support to current EU practices and Directives on coastal areas for environmental monitoring and reporting.

Blue Thread provides to the project its AIS-based Marine Terminals to be installed on-board of boats to be used for real-time water quality measures (TWQ, Tracking Water Quality terminals); the terminal integrates a multi-parametric probe provided by the Italian environmental agency ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale) for local samples and measurements of coastal sea water quality.
The project is sponsored by the European Space Agency (ESA, ARTES-20 Programme).

Tests and the DEMO system are hosted by the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella (Naples, Italy).
